Partnering with you to transform your vision into reality
The Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago was founded on July 2, 1988 and incorporated by an Act of Parliament (Act No. 15 of 1989) as a charitable, voluntary, community organization. In 1991, the Association joined the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), a worldwide association of seven main global regions and also belongs to the North American and Caribbean (NAC) region. Recently, the Diabetes Association has been registered as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO Act No. 7 of 2019).
Our Core Objectives:
To promote one’s interest in and educate about Diabetes Mellitus and other associated diseases.
To promote a level of awareness amongst the population of Trinidad and Tobago and those who may be at risk.
To encourage all to adopt a healthy lifestyle as a preventative measure in order have control over their own lives.
To collaborate with institutions, national, regional and international with similar interests to form a stronger, healthier and a more progressive Caribbean region.
DATT’s mission is to improve health in the Caribbean by educating the public and students about diabetes and related conditions, raising awareness among at-risk groups, conducting research to enhance care, providing screening and support services, promoting healthy lifestyles, and collaborating with national and international partners.
DATT’s implied vision is to improve the lives of people with diabetes, prevent the disease in those at risk, and build a healthier nation through awareness, support, early detection, and the creation of supportive environments in workplaces, schools, and other communities.
